Bill Hicks – Sane Man – (Part 1 of 9)
Bill Hicks performing for his first video, Sane Man, in Austin, Texas in 1989. en.wikipedia.org William Melvin Hicks was an American stand-up comedian in the 1980s and early 1990s. He challenged mainstream beliefs, aiming to “enlighten people to think for themselves.” Hicks used a ribald approach to express his material, describing himself as “Chomsky with dick jokes.” His jokes included general discussions about society, religion, politics, philosophy and personal issues. Hicks’ material was often deliberately controversial and steeped in black comedy. In both his stand-up performances, and during interviews, he often criticized media and popular culture as oppressive tools of the ruling class, meant to “keep people stupid and apathetic.” An inspired and inspiring truth teller, dangerous and brave and scary all at once. Richard Pryor Hickss stand-up act is about taking a stand and occasionally dodging a chair. Rolling Stone Savage, brilliant, funny, tremendously intelligent. John Cleese He never disappointed. David Letterman Bill Hicksblowtorch, excavator, truth-sayer, and brain specialist, like a reverend waving a gun around. He will correct your vision. Others will drive on the road he built. Bill Hicks was amazing.
But I don’t idolize Bill Hicks. He was not a hero. He was a man.
I doubt he really saw himself as a hero or someone to be idolized. He considered himself a preacher (according to his mother)– a messenger of the “truth”, and I think he’d rather you focus on immortalizing his message, and not his image.

@iROFLatYouSOxD I try…
By Nightsblood192 on Aug 27, 2010
@Nightsblood192 Ahaha. You are very presumptuous.
By iROFLatYouSOxD on Aug 27, 2010
Great show! If only he’d lived through our time, his head would probably implode due to this aura of ignorance that shrouds the US.
By Nightsblood192 on Aug 27, 2010
@iROFLatYouSOxD Your president and his administration are proving no better than the prior fiscal conservative administration, not to mention Obama’s little hate crew, Pelosi, Reid, and that guttersnipe Rahm Emmanuel. True Constitutional Conservatives seem to be the most sane out of any politicians these days (Mark Levin mainly) You liberals have perverted the Democratic party, go back to sucking the governments cock, sooner or later it’ll cum socialism, hopefully you get it all in your mouth.

the scary thing is I BELIEVE HIM

6:56-6:59 that laugh and the YES explains Bill in the most impressive way! WOW

@iROFLatYouSOxD Fxxk Barack Obama…slimy piece of heartless criminal shit. RIP BILL. AMERICAN FXXKING HERO !!
By thomasmoonman on Aug 27, 2010
@iROFLatYouSOxD
I couldn’t care less if he’s the president.
You seem to be yet another mindless drone who bends the knee and bows the head to artificial authority figures who decide what you do with your life.
Politicians are liars and fraudsters and your president is the biggest liar of all, alongside every other head of state. Power corrupts.
Go back to sleep.

@TheMillsEffect Correct me if I am wrong, but isn’t this guy who you deem less worthy of being idolized compared to Bill Hicks the fucking President? I guess shit doesn’t work that way anywaymore
By iROFLatYouSOxD on Aug 27, 2010
@iROFLatYouSOxD
Yeah, pretty much. At least Hicks isn’t full of shit.
By TheMillsEffect on Aug 27, 2010
@TheMillsEffect You’d rather some hick named Bill Hicks be idolized than say Barack Obama!

Bill Is The Best Comedian I Have Ever Seen…But It’s Also Cool That Some Of The Shit He Says Is True And Makes Me Think About The Stuff That Goes On Around This Place…
By SOADVSSOAD on Aug 27, 2010
I love Bill, but I also love that some of the audience are totally dedicated to him. They see and understand his soul and warmth. And that warms my heart.
By Mald77 on Aug 27, 2010
@TheMillsEffect No it was just a question but michael jackson isn’t the worst person to idolize he might not of been completely sane but he was a good artist
By purplenurps on Aug 27, 2010
@purplenurps
I do. But I’d still rather it was Hicks being idolized than any of the vast number of ‘celebrities’ who, in my opinion, have done nothing helpful for anyone.
Having said that, too many people spend far too much time looking for someone or something to worship and to emulate. Maybe if they had more fulfilling lives they’d be less inclined to worship others. I mean no offence by that. Just a thought.
By TheMillsEffect on Aug 27, 2010
@TheMillsEffect So you think all this idolizing over bill hicks is ridiculous then?
By purplenurps on Aug 27, 2010
He’s better than the people who work at Waffle House.
By jamsjoyce on Aug 27, 2010
do u not think its odd that he paid a 13 year old boy $20 million not to stand up in court. sexual abuse cases are very hard to prove, mainly due to a lack of witnesses.
$20 million seems an awful lot, even more so if ur innocent
By 3strings on Aug 27, 2010
RIP Bill Hicks
By 400batman on Aug 27, 2010
@umgammer William Bill Hicks has literally changed my life to the better. You can not judge what other people mean to others or how they affect them, never.
By stoffeboyei on Aug 27, 2010
@TheMillsEffect Hey man I know what you’re saying, but I appreciate Michael Jackson. He is also a PERFECT example of how easily people are brainwashed and controlled by the media. How people can see something like “MJ Child Molester?” and automatically say he’s guilty. What makes ME sick is the things a news channel will suggest just to get better ratings. Sorry I know this comment is old but just wanted to say that. But anyways thanks for the upload. Haha.

@TheMillsEffect @TheMillsEffect i think comedians like bill and george are more like poets who share their pholosophy with others while useing comedy as a vehicle a little bit like philosophers in ancient greek who gave public audits and performed “stand up philosophy”
