Stephen Fry – 50 not out – Part 5
June 2, 2010 – 2:50 pm
Great documentary about a great person: actor, comedian, director, writer, thinker, a renaissance man, an enormous heart and an intellect as huge as his talent. I was kind of hoping to translate it into portughese before posting it, but it was not possible… yet. Anyone that want give a hand, I will appreciate very much.

@emi90210 Yes, that’s exactly it. There are the smart people who make you feel stupid in comparison to them, and then there are the smart people like Stephen who make you feel smarter from having been around them.

I love the looks on the faces of the actors at 2:18, clearly they are genuinely amazed to be given an informed and reasonable reply to the question!

I wonder why Rob Webb isn’t on QI as often as David M is, Rob looks like a little kid talking about his idol
He sort of is. It’s very sweet.

I tried the finger pointing experiment with my dog – Stephen’s right, dogs do look at the finger rather than following the line of the finger! Although my dog is notoriously unintelligent, so I can’t speak for the species in general …

Curious: I am in that stage just NOW, falling asleep with his velvety voice narrating of Dumbledores, enchantments and owls.

I do that as well. It’s very soothing.

Love from 1:59, he’s pulling off nonsense and humbug with grace. His mind’s so quick it almost frightens me. His intelligence, although I wouldn’t call it that, because I don’t regard his enormous storage of knowledge as intelligence, is never patronizing. He knows that knowing all capitals in the world, or all about Greek history isn’t the ‘real game’ in this world. But it’s so very fun to learn. He has taught a lot of people that. Hugely inspiring man! Thanks for uploading!

I found what Phill Jupitus says, about Stephen making you want to “be better”, so deeply moving; he`s absolutely right and that cuality that Fry has is so rare and wonderful it makes you fall in love whith him almost.
Thanks so-so much for posting this!!!
