Susan Boyle on FOX News Channel

May 29, 2009 – 10:54 am

Susan Boyle talks to America’s Newsroom hosts Bill Hemmer and Megyn Kelly about her overnight YouTube stardom. Thanks to iluvdesmond: For those confused, as I was, that she was “invited”, it works like this: Before performing in front of the judges, acts must first seek the seal of approval from the show’s producers. Acts are notifed 2-16 weeks later informing them whether they are through to audition in front of the Britain’s Got Talent judges and audience. Copyright – FOX Broadcasting – 2009…

  3. The U.S has a similar feel good story, Donald Braswell came in 4th on AGT last year. On his first audition he came out in a crumpled business suit and the crowd was mocking him like they did Susan and America was worse, they started booing him, but instead of running off the stage, he kept singing and his voice is a God given gift that turned the crowd around to where they were giving him a standing ovation like they did Susan. Check out Your Raise Me Up on Youtube. Susan is awesome!

  5. actually thought that this was one of the better of the US interviews – nice simplicity to it – definitly better than diane sawyers! which was patronising.

  11. Does anyone know how Britain’s Got Talent even KNEW about her to approach her? I didn’t know shows worked that way. I thought people just auditioned for them. Hmmm. Shows you how much I know.

  13. Susan has the voice of an angel and she will give hope and inspiration to all of us.
What I would like to mention here is that if you will notice the demeanours on the judges right before she begins to sing, They have a peaceful look and an almost smile. I am sure that the producers knew beforehand that she could sing and tipped off the judges. They were waiting for a stellar performance and just acted surprised.
Just as he said, I believe at least Simon knew.

  15. You miss understand, as a result of my lack of clarification. I was suggesting the questions being asked by the reporters were both inappropriate and condescending. I felt Susan handled it all quite well and reasonable, but the questions asked were quite unreasonable. The best interview I have seen in the US, thus far, was last night on Larry King. At least, there was a sense of respect shown toward her.
In my opinion, it was not a communications problem, but a rudeness problem.

    Peace

  16. Its not just Fox doing it though, Sadly.I hate how the Sun does it too, With there storys about her they always put in bold capitals, Susan Boyle, the VIRGIN. She should be known as Susan Boyle not Susan Boyle the virgin!

  17. Because they;re American and she’s British. We’re seperated by a common language. Different attitude innit. We’re more reserved and the Yank are open, resulting in communication troubles.,

  18. Why are the American media interviews of Susan so poorly done?

    By forestlight5 on May 29, 2009

  19. Susan is good, even if she had singing lessons and the producers knew.
It might be possible the judges (at least Simon) knew, too. Look at their reactions before and after. Total (bad)acting.
    Ant &Dec aren’t even surprised !
Susan had a song on a CD, check the Scottish press, so they knew about her, as they know abut a lot of acts.
Media manipulation was good this time.

  22. You gotta love those assholes at FOX news and their captions. “47 year old Spinster” “Never been kissed at 47 years old” Why don’t they just bring her on the show and bash her with a frikkin hammer in person. I hate FOX NEWS, they’re all a bunch of pricks.
